Pope Francis Blesses The Country Of The Philippines

By Alon Calinao Dy: Pope Francis arrived in the Philippines yesterday at roughly 5:45 p.m. via SriLankan Airlines,  which thousands of Catholic people came to see His Holiness. The event became successful and the most eminent figure of the Catholic church was delighted about the warm welcome of the Filipino people.

The pontiff's energy is extraordinary as he has no reluctance to approach some of the marginalized Filipinos to give his blessings. At age 78,  he is still strong to perform his duties and obligations as a Holy Father and a representative of  our Lord Jesus Christ. He also completed all the scheduled activities today, with the good will of God.

The papal visit is a blessing in the country to remind our leaders to stay just with their work and to battle the never-ending corruption in the country. The itinerary of Pope Francis to Tacloban tomorrow, would be his primary concern. One of the activities is to light a candle to bless a mass grave in the wake of super typhoon Yolanda last November 8, 2013.

When Pope Francis landed in the Philippines, I knew in my heart that this is what Yolanda victims have been waiting for. Although I have not seen him personally, my wife and I included him in our prayers that he can deliver his mission to the miserable people.

I hope Filipinos will remember the visit of our beloved pontiff. I hope Filipino leaders will recognize that money and power are not the only important things in this world, but also the force of love, deep understanding, and devotion for those who are in need.

I hope and pray to stop corruption in all levels of the government, including the private sectors just what our dearest Pope Francis wanted to happen in our nation.
