Iglesia ni Cristo in the Midst of Crisis

By Alon Calinao Dy: we have seen social media posts about the Manalo clan's family feud allegedly regarding the control of power within the Iglesia ni Cristo (INC), corruption, and politics.

First, the viral video appeared on YouTube and Facebook where Angel Manalo and his mother had asked their supporters to help them as they were fearful for their lives. They also asked the whereabouts of some INC ministers who were reportedly abducted.

In a press conference, INC General Evangelist Santiago said, "hindi po makakapayag ang kapatid na Eduardo ang kasalukuyang tagapamahalang pangkalahatan na ang Iglesia ay guluhin ng sinumang tao."

Reports said that Iglesia ni Cristo expelled Tenny Manalo, Angel Manalo, and the mother and brother of the present Executive Minister Eduardo Manalo as church members. They also denied on the alleged involvement of abductions of some ministers.

Netizens say that Iglesia ni Cristo are known for bloc voting in Philippine elections. I think any religion should not participate in politics. Ministers or any religious leaders should not endorse any political leaders. They should respect the free will of every person as Jesus Christ respected the people's will who put him to death. Besides, religion is a full commitment to God; not to somebody else in the political party.
