Presidential Aspirant Mayor Rodrigo Duterte Was Born in Southern Leyte

By Alon Calinao Dy: Presidential aspirant Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte wanted to visit Tacloban City on March 14, 2016, a close supporter said in social media network. He would be willing to visit the province where he was born, expecting to garner more votes from a huge crowd of registered voters both in Leyte and Samar provinces.

Duterte, who was born in Maasin, Southern Leyte in 1945, was one of the high-profile politicians who quickly responded to give aid to the Yolanda victims in Tacloban City and nearby affected places last Nov 2013. He also questioned presidential aspirant Liberal Party standard-bearer Manuel "Mar" Roxas II about the whereabouts of Yolanda funds.

Duterte is best known for being a tough-talking mayor in politics. For over 22 years in politics, he gained popularity by maintaining Davao City as one of the safest cities in Asia. He also cleared the issues of drug trafficking, organized crime, and corruption.

In the first Pilipinas 2016 Presidential Debate hosted by GMA network in Cagayan de Oro, Duterte made it clear and reiterated that he is going to solve the problems of crime and corruption in the Philippines. He said that within 3 to 6 months of service he is going to clear the issues if ever he is elected a new president in the country.

Duterte does not have funds to run a campaign, but he allows his supporters to campaign for him by any means. Fans believe that Duterte is the only presidential candidate who does not spend his own money for TV ads. Duterte also admitted that he does not want to feel bothered if he has not repaid the UTANG NA LOOB to his voters. That's why he does not want his candidacy to be funded by rich people.
