All We Need is Peace, Not War

By Alon Calinao Dy:  Life is too short to think about our personal and global problems. Let every family live in peace, and let all children grow where they know the world that live for is full of love, peace, and surrounded by kind people.

I heard about some reports that World War 3 could start this year particularly in the Middle East countries. This is not the kind of war that we all want to happen, killing people by sending massive troops or by bombing houses. If this happens, there are a lot of innocent people who are going to die, and how many more are going to suffer because of this.  This is not the kind of war we all want for our children, but to put an end to terrorism.

This is the poem I wrote a couple of years ago. My poem is entitled The World Needs Peace and Love. It mentioned there that every person is equal no matter what is your religion and race. Also, I believe that we are all children of God.

Poem by Alon Calinao Dy

To these days, I am glad to know that we have United Nations (UN) that maintains peace and order in the world and stabilizes the tensions of one country to another, avoiding war from happening.

To think about the global problems: Philippines has territorial disputes in West Philippine Sea over the giant country of China, Syria has been going through a civil war for many years, and of course the growing threat of ISIS around the globe. I think all these problems is because of the war in oil, religion, politics, etc.

But of course, in the Philippines, Filipinos have been battling against corruption, hunger, poverty, unresolved murder, and other crimes for decades. These problems alone kill thousands of Filipinos each year.

If you are going to ponder these mutiple issues about the world, I think in the end you will be in deep trouble. Just like I said, life is too short to spend all your time and energy fighting violence and injustice.

Despite everything, Filipinos are still fortunate to be with their respective families over the millions of Syrian civilians who fled to the neighboring countries just to live in peace without the threat of war.

The World Needs Peace and Love, Not War.
