Reasons Why I Think Filipinos Do Not Like Mar Roxas As A President
By Alon Calinao Dy: These are my personal views why Filipinos do not like Mar Roxas as a president and why I think they hate the former DILG Secretary.
Roxas was supposed to run for president last 2010 Presidential election but he gave it to President Benigno Aquino III since their camp realized that the chance of winning the lottery to Malacanang was in favor of Aquino family.
At that time Former President Corazon Aquino died from colon cancer, so Filipinos have shown their sympathy to Aquino Family. The truth is, this is one of the reasons why Pnoy won and defeated current Manila City Mayor Joseph Ejercito Estrada by a narrow margin.
Mar Roxas came in the wrong place at the wrong time. He was annoited by Pnoy as his successor when most Filipinos suffered the loss of elite SAF officers in Maguindanao on January 25, 2015.
Supposedly responsible government officials were blaming one another in Mamasapano clash, showing to everyone that a commander-in-chief was not in command and exercising his power properly.
Although people said Pnoy and Roxas "were not informed" about the incident, the question is: how could it be? True and effective leaders accept responsibility and demonstrate accountability.
After these brave men died fighting for our country, President Aquino did not attend arrival honors for the slain SAF officers. Instead, he went to car plant ceremony. Now another question is, do Filipinos have an insensitive government turning a blind eye to the needs of its people?
Although I appreciated Pnoy Aquino administration for exposing some corrupt government officials, I would be happy if he can answer this simple question of Yolanda survivors -- where are billions of Yolanda funds donated by different countries around the world?
I think Mr. President Aquino who endorsed Roxas for president has lost his credibility to Filipino voters. Although LP standard bearer Roxas had knowledge about what happened, because of a series of painful events and incompetencies on the part of the government, this storm of anger was passed to him by his trusted administration.
