Aftermath of a fight: Mayweather beats Maidana For a Second Time

By Alon Calinao Dy: The rematch fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr., (47-0, 27 KOs) and Marcos Maidana ( 35-5, 31 KOs) was promoted by Golden Boy Promotions, Showtime Pay-Per-View, and Mayweather Promotions on Saturday night at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.

According to some reports, Mayweather Jr., was guaranteed to receive $35 million dollars and $3 million dollars for his challenger Marcos Maidana, a hard-hitting and determined brawler, who currently lives in Argentina with his family.

In the first round of the fight, undoubtedly Maidana came out to pressure Mayweather with solid shots that slightly hurt the undefeated American. He continued to throw lethal punches till the fourth round when Mayweather felt Maidana's powerful shots.

As I said in my article boycott mayweather-maidana-fight before their anticipating second bout, Maidana was a tough competitor but he was lack a relentless attack. He couldn't even land a solid punch to Mayweather's body. In fairness to Chino, he tried his best to defeat the champion, but it was not enough.

I was kind of frustrated about the referee, Kenny Bayless, who deducted Maidana a point for accidentally pushed Mayweather down. But when Mayweather hit the Argentine boxer below the belt, he obviously did nothing about it. No point deduction, seriously?

Before the end of the round, Mayweather complained to his compatriot referee about the alleged bite from Maidana that caused his fingers to numb after the 8th round. There were so many breaks and dramas in this fight. Fans booed loudly as Mayweather rested for a while, seemingly unhappy with his new alibis or tactics.

In the 12th round, Mayweather avoided the punches of Maidana. He danced throughout the bout, for he knew he was ahead on all scorecards. The final judges' scores were 115-112, 116-111, 116-111. Floyd retained his WBA/WBC welterweight title for the second time.

After the fight, he was asked again about the possible match against the current WBO welterweight champion and eight-division world champion Manny Pacquiao. For the first time he spoke bravely and said, "Pacquiao should focus first to his current opponent. Let's see what will happen in May."

Expect the unexpected.

Boycott Mayweather - Maidana Fight

By Alon Calinao Dy: Argentine boxer Marcos Maidana (35-4, 31 KOs) is going for a second bout against the undefeated boxing world champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. (46-0, 26 KOs) on September 13 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.

Sure, Maidana would keep himself busy and throw a lot of punches to hurt Mayweather, as what he did in their first bout when the battle went well in the early rounds. But after the fight, experts said Mayweather was just toying with Maidana.

Now their rematch is not going to help the boxing community. People with strong liking for this sport already knew what's the outcome of the bout this coming Saturday.

Maidana is a slow version of Manny Pacquiao who has no power to knock out his opponent, as Mayweather doesn't see the Argentine boxer as being an A level fighter like himself.

I have utmost respect for Maidana and his trainer Robert Garcia. But he has no power to resist attack from Mayweather's drop-jab tactic and strenght to beat the boastful fighter.

Yes it's true that Maidana had shown durability in the past, but not consistency. If he really wants to defeat Mayweather Jr., he should employ a relentless attack from 1 to 12 rounds. He can't go out there like any other B level fighters  who stop throwing solid punches in the middle of the fight.

Also, if he wants to fold Mayweather like a scrap of paper, he should be like water that soiled items whenever heat is there to make a fighter sweat more profusely, when he is weak and feeling tired.

Nevertheless, Instead of watching this Mayweather - Maidana fight, fight fans should ask for Pacquiao vs. Mayweather fight next year. It's the only fight that matters today.

Fans know the fact that Mayweather is going to be a winner in this competition because Maidana easily fades in the late rounds. In other words, he has no stamina like Pacquiao.

This second fight is nothing but a waste of time for all of us. Again, it's time to call for Pacquiao - Mayweather fight in 2015. I'm sure everyone will love to see them in the ring.
