By Alon Calinao Dy: People with asthma are at high risk of developing respiratory diseases. It is essential to determine what vaccines are right for your health protection. In the Middle East where asthma attack is very common because of its house dust mites and other allergens, it is recommended to have these vaccines.

1. Seasonal Flu vaccine

Asthmatic adults need annual flu vaccination to avoid contracting influenza virus and other type ofnlung problems. It is advisable for populated places such as pilgrimage or hajj for muslims because virus can easily be transmitted through sneezing and normal talking without proper hand washing.

2. Pneumococcal vaccine

This vaccine protects people with asthma against pneumonia. It is recommended for indiviuals who smoke, elderly, and those who have chronic illnesses. This vaccine effectiveness lasts for five years. After that, another shot is strongly advised for full protection.

3. Influenza vaccine

It is said that flu vaccination can fight against influenza virus, but there is now an influenza vaccine that can affect healthy people differently. This vaccine protects frail people and those who are 65 years and older. It is also important for asthmatic people and those who have chronic illnesses such as diabetes and lung disease to get vaccinated to protect them from common cold or pneumonia.

4. MMR vaccine

This vaccine is effective against three types of diseases such as mumps, measles, and rubella. It protects vulnerable people, especially children who suffer asthma attacks as it stimulates the body's immune system and remembers the virus so that people do not get the disease if exposed to it again.

5. DTP vaccine

In some studies, says that children developed asthma attacks after they received this vaccine. The data have no supporting evidence that link pediatric asthma to this incidence.

This vaccine is mandatory on school children in many countries like any other important vaccines to protect them against yhree infectious diseases such as diphteria, pertussis, and tetanus. This vaccine also helps asthma and allergy sufferers in most cases.

Vaccines are essential for people, especially for children who have incurable asthma. These vaccines I mentioned above aid people who have this condition. According to medical experts, it has been proven to be safe in children with asthma.
