Why Do I Hate This Motto?

By Alon Calinao Dy: I hate this motto "If there's a will, there's a way." For me, it has a good intention if the person really understands its true meaning. But many people don't understand and abuse the motto, especially among teens.

For instance, a guy forces a girl to go out with him in the middle of the night, even though the parents have not permitted her. Again he uses this motto "If there's a will, there's a way," pressuring the young woman to go out with him, which is not a right way to please the heart of a person.

Just a simple question: if you are a woman, would you still date this guy?

A. Yes
B. No

Actually, the saying is dangerous if it is applied in a negative way because your intention is to get something from that person which I don't know what's playing on your mind.

The positive meaning of this says that if a person possesses a determination to get what he wants in life, he can always find a way. For example, if a person wants to graduate from college, he should study very well and try in his power to pass all the subjects and attend his assignments. That is the kind of determination I am speaking about.

This determination is not to hurt or destroy someone's life. This determination is not to pressure someone you really looked up to. This determination is created to let others know that you have succeeded without stepping into someone's shoes. Again, that is the kind of determination I am talking about.
