By Alon Calinao Dy: The incoming president Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte has selected a new Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Ronald "Bato" dela Rosa, the one who has an outstanding record as a crime buster especially drug lord dealers.
Ronald dela Rosa is not afraid to perform his duty as a police officer especially when it comes to illegal drugs. If the presumptive president Duterte hates prohibited drugs, he too hates the illegal substance.
Netizens believe that the new PNP chief could do his duty well, and that the time limit of Mayor Duterte that Philippines should be free from crime, corruption and illegal drugs is possible because dela Rosa is known to be an intelligent, hardworking, loyal to his commitment as a law enforcer.
Three major problems of the country now: crime, corruption and illegal drugs. Although poverty is also the reason, the incoming president is alarmed that these country's problems affect the future of every Filipino to live in a safe, free environment.
Dela Rosa is a well-respected police officer. Just like Mayor Duterte, he hates criminals on the loose and those who continue to spread their criminal activities. For Filipinos who want a real change, this is a big challenge for the new PNP Chief to stop crime, corruption and illegal drugs in the country in a short span of time.
The incoming president now experiences a lot of pressures from the followers who believe in him. I believe that a political will of the presumptive president Duterte is a big factor why Filipinos should continue to believe in his advocacy of good governance, and why a country as Philippines would continue to rise like a flying eagle.
As Peter Tiu Lavina said, a spokesperson of Mayor Duterte, "let us allow the new government to take shape," meaning to say that let the incoming president do his job and let's hope for the better.
Indeed, Filipinos have voted a right leader. There's no need to panic if Mayor Duterte has new rules and regulations the everyone should follow. Although Filipinos will have a best president and a new PNP Chief, let's not forget that a real change starts within ourselves.
Discipline is what Filipinos need right now...
