By Alon Calinao Dy: MILF peace negotiators, Iqbal and Murad, denied the allegations by former interior Secretary Rafael Alunan that they are not Filipinos and holding Malaysian passports.
In fact, Iqbal publicized a copy of his passport showing that he is a Filipino, but it angers a lot of netizens when they found out that the Philippine passport, he is now holding is recently released by the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) last March 16, 2015 according to the image above.
A concerned citizen, Nest Reyes, says that Iqbal holds a dual citizenship. But it seems the passport he posted on the internet is edited and does not show any authenticity.
If it is true that Iqbal and Murad are Filipinos, why are some people making the noise in the social media networks that they are not?
Is it true that MNLF founder Nur Misuari is the one who opposes the Bangsamoro Basic Law and wants their immediate arrest for they are allegedly not Filipinos?
Iqbal bravely said that all these allegations of him are baseless and Filipinos should not listen to what his haters say. He believes that this is the only way to criticize him since the majority of the Filipinos are against the proposed Bangsamoro Basic Law.
Many Filipinos have brought up their concerns through different social media sites about the proposed BBL since a huge budget of the government will be funded to these small communities. They also said that they have ARMM already.
