Is 4Ps Really Helpful For The Poor?
By Alon Calinao Dy: The Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) is one of the Aquino administration strategies to reduce poverty among Filipino poor families in the Philippines. Government spent a lot of money trying to provide the needs of the poor. But, is 4Ps really helpful for the poor Filipinos?
Although 4Ps beneficiaries said that it is a good government program for the poor as it helps them in their education, health, food and daily expenses, allowances, and a lot more, I don't think it really improved the quality of life of every Filipino in Aquino regime when allegations of corruption are rampant among its government officials. Perhaps, it's one of the ways for some corrupt people to take advantage of this program.
Some people complain about this government program to have not selected as lucky beneficiaries even though they're quality and considered as poor. Others say that it is not enough to cater their daily needs and it turns out to be bad as it teaches people to become lazy by depending on this program; and not looking anymore for a regular employment.
I think that the best way to help the Filipinos especially those who are needy is to find them a regular employment so that they have a monthly income to provide the basic needs of their families. As what I said it's only a medium of corruption and it's unfair for other families who are truly considered poor but then some clans have become 4Ps beneficiaries because they have strong connections from the people who work inside the government.
I am not totally against this kind of government program especially when it already helped a lot of Filipinos. Whether 4Ps is beneficial or not to our poor countrymen, corruption within the government must end first. In this way, Filipinos can say that they get the full benefit by having one of the best government programs in the country.
