By Alon Calinao Dy: A 50-year-old man named Nong Nong Alvarez in Gandara, Western Samar, suffered a slash on his head after having a heated argument with his opponent at around 4pm on July 17.
The victim was brought to Gandara District Hospital as the authorities tried to find out what happened to the injured man. But some say he was under the influence of alcohol before his opponent hacked him.
He was then transferred to Calbayog General Hospital, but sad to say, he didn't make it due to blood loss and the time of travel.
The question to ask is: who is the victim's enemy? Though the victim did not say anything to the police, some residents are really worried about the possible plan of revenge.
There were a lot of incidents in the past in Samar that people put the justice into their hands. Sad to say, many incidents had not been reported to the law enforcement because in the fear of death.
Meaning to say that if you kill me, one of the members in the family will get revenge on rival, making it the start of a war between two families till no one is left behind.
This kind of family feud should be stopped by the authorities by any means to save people's lives. These events already happened in the past and the number of repeated incidents should not be tolerated by the local government unit (LGU).
