Despite the protests, President Duterte is firm about the decision to bury Marcos at Heroes' cemetery. Marcos Sr. became a president and a soldier that seems to qualify him to be buried in this cemetery.
However, protesters, said they would do something to stop the burial of late dictator Marcos who allowed human rights violations during his long reign and tenure as a president of the Philippines.
Reports said that many Filipinos want to bury Marcos at Heroes' cemetery than a small percentage of Filipinos who opposed to this decision of the current president.
Though it's not easy to heal the scars in the past especially on the part of Martial Law victims, President Duterte already called a national healing after he won for presidency so that Filipinos will have a unity against various groups who tried to divide the country.
President Duterte's decision for a hero's burial for Marcos is welcomed by a majority of Filipinos in the country. In fact, different surveys have been made if Filipinos do agree to bury late strongman president Marcos at the Libingan ng mga Bayani, and the results in favor of Marcos.
Though some reports said Imelda stole over $5 to 10 billion dollars, Filipinos today remember the great achievements of the 10th president of the Philippines when Marcos built San Juanico Bridge, Philippine Heart Center, Philippine Children Hospital, Lung Center of the Philippines, and many more that Filipinos still enjoy to these days.
