Who is Your Favorite Candidate For The 2016 Presidential Election?

By Alon Calinao Dy: It is less than a year before the 2016 Presidential election in the Philippines, and many Filipinos have different positions who would be their presidential bet and would bring the country into one of the richest countries in Asia.

The latest Pulse Asia survey showed Vice President Jejomar Binay as the leading presidential candidate in 2016. However, Binay is facing the alleged gross overprice in the construction of Makati City Hall Building II, when he was a Makati mayor.

In the recent news, Pnoy might endorse Davao Mayor Rodrigo Duterte as the prospect that would continue his Tuwid Na Landas program. It might be possible that Duterte would be the running mate of Senator Grace Poe next year. Duterte is the president and Poe is the vice president.

There is no doubt that Aquino is an honest and sincere leader when he continues to fight corruption among government officials. Though he has a lot of criticisms in the social media about his participation in the proposed Bangsamoro Basic Law and by not admitting his responsibility over the killings of SAF 44 in Mamasapano, Maguindanao, lots of Filipinos believe that the current administration is better than the previous ones.

Filipino voters are tired of crooked politicians. But vote buying is rampant in the country. They can easily forget their principles if they are given money to vote a politician. This is one of the problems that many Filipinos had been facing over the last decades. Until now, I think voters would prefer a political leader who has a lot of money than a leader who has a will for good governance in the Philippines.

Will You Vote Davao Mayor Rodrigo Duterte For President in 2016?

By Alon Calinao Dy: The Davao mayor Rodrigo Duterte is popular for being true to his words as he has always combated any criminal activities in his area. He also speaks publicly that criminals are nowhere to hide as long as he is the mayor. His toughness still remains and has been enjoyed by many Filipinos since rampant crimes are everywhere in the country in these days.

The "Shoot me, Duterte" also goes viral. The mayor jokingly said that he will shoot the person behind the "Duterte-for-President Movement."But because there are many Duterte's supporters out there, his fans dare him to shoot them for supporting the presidential movement.

When Duterte was asked if he has intention to run for president in 2016,  he said

"I am not interested in becoming the president or the vice president or even a senator or a secretary of any department. I don't qualify for these positions. I will aspire only for what I can be. I will not dream  of what I cannot be."
Moreover, Duterte has been one of the watch list of the Commission on Human Rights (CHR) for publicly speaking his intention to shoot down any criminals within his jurisdiction. The CHR believes that the infamous mayor is violating human rights for his harsh statements.

Although the presidential election is a long way to start if someone thinks about it, Duterte's supporters are still confident that he might change his decision. Anything is possible like everyone is stating. His admirers believe that Duterte is the only who can prevent crimes in the Philippines and put back the country into the limelight once more.

Just in case Duterte runs for president in 2016, the question is, are you willing to support him? It is obvious that if he runs at the highest place of government, he also needs your assistance. Are you one of his supporters?

Duterte has a chance to gain ground in parts of Mindanao and Visayas, but not in Luzon. According to the latest poll on 2016 president, vice president Jejomar Binay is still the leading presidential candidate among other contenders.

This is just what I can suggest to my countrymen. If you want to vote mayor Duterte for President, then you must cling to it. Don't ever change your heart and judgement. Indeed, he makes Davao a great city for everyone. I do believe that he can also make the Philippines a safe haven for all.
