By Alon Calinao Dy: Lemon juice is perfect for people who look for a healthy drink since some people use it for sore throat and cough. It is an excellent juice because it has loaded with vitamins and minerals that's healthy for everyone. 



Many nutritionists and dermatologists say that it is helpful to prevent acne in your skin since it is citric acid that really works at getting rid of dead skin cells and clogged pores.

Indeed, there are numerous health benefits of lemon juice in your skin not only it keeps acne away, but it also cleans the toxins in your kidney. That's why people who drink lots of lemon juice are less likely to suffer kidney problems.

Although there are available drugs that are intended to dissolve the stones, drinking enough water with lemon and eating fruits and vegetables are one of the best ways to ward off kidney stones.



Lemon juice is also beneficial for people who want to lose weight because it aids in digestion and makes you less hungry. In fact, there are reports that Hollywood star Ashton Kutcher and international singer Beyonce often drink lemon juice for their natural and healthy weight loss programs. 

I actually drink lemon juice almost everyday to sustain healthy skin and prevent kidney stones formation. Instead of drinking soda, caffeine and alcohol, it's scientifically proven that lemon juice is one of the most effective ways to stay fit.

In most public supermarket stores in the Philippines, the price of lemon is Php 20 each. Therefore, it is a little bit expensive but it's worth it to stay in good shape. This lemon juice is also available in some restaurants but buying a lemon drink is very costly; so, it's much better to make your own lemon juice at home.

Why Do I Eat Brown Rice instead of White Rice?


By Alon Calinao Dy: Brown rice, a nutritious food rich in calcium, thiamine, selenium, vitamin B complex and other nutrients, is not very popular food in the Philippines. Many Filipinos love to serve and eat white rice every time they have food on the table for breakfast, lunch and dinner. 

You usually limit rice intake because you consider it "Unhealthy" if you consume more than a cup per day. Often, when you think about white rice, you also think about carbohydrate or sugar. While it is true that consumption of white rice contains simple sugars, it also holds some nutrients.

Unlike white rice, brown rice is still the excellent food choice by most healthy people and vegans. The problem is that it is not the best selling product for majority of consumers since cooking brown rice can be a little tricky and is not delicious than white rice.

What are the health benefits?

Numerous studies show that brown rice is rich in fiber, which promotes weight loss. This is the ideal food for diabetic people since  this food is helpful in lowering sugar levels.

Secondly, brown rice is considered whole grain, which lowers the risk of heart disease and reduces constipation problem as it is high in fiber. It is known a healthy diet that may avoid chronic diseases such as asthma, arthritis, colorectal cancer, and cardiovascular diseases.

Thirdly, brown rice contains abundant antioxidants. Nowadays, there are commercial health products that are available in different drugstores. There is one product called Protandim, a supplement that is approved by Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in the US, is said to be effective medicine in adding antioxidants to your body. These antioxidants that we get from eating brown rice, avocado, apple, pineapple, dragon fruit, banana, and other fruits are essential for our health and well-being to fight aging and free radicals that cause incurable cancers later on.

Lastly, brown rice is rich in manganese that helps the body synthesize fats. It is important in human health. According to Wikipedia, "The human body contains about 12 mg of manganese, which is stored mainly concentrated in the bones, in the tissues, it is mostly concentrated in the liver and kidneys." Therefore, this trace nutrient is vitally important to all living organisms. This food also has natural substance that helps maintain proper weight and lowers bad cholesterol, which aids to reduce the build up of arterial plaque.


In the coming years, I expect many consumers are going to select brown rice than white rice because it is clearly a healthy choice of staple food. I am witness of this miracle product since I started eating this food a few years back I I have maintained my ideal weight. I always have a yearly check-up for my health; so far, all laboratory test results are perfectly normal. Thanks God.

Facts About Eating Avocado


By Alon Calinao Dy: In the Middle East, I hardly find avocado in the marketplace, simply because this fruit comes from other countries. That is why it is a little bit more expensive than in my country Philippines. Nevertheless, avocado has loads of nutrients, which are essential in your health. Not only it contains healthy fats, but it also controls bad cholesterol in your body.

The truth is, avocado is approved by many cardiologists because it has a heart-healthy unsaturated fat, a fatty acid regarded as healthier than saturated fats. Other foods that contain unsaturated fats are olive oils, nuts, canola, and vegetable oils.

However, eating too much of it should be avoided, since one person shouldn't exceed to the limit of 30% daily caloric intake according to Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in the United States.

In some studies, technically, it said that avocado does not have cholesterol, since cholesterol is normally found in animal meats and dairy products. In fact, the American Heart Association (AHA) claims that "Cholesterol is  just one of the many substances created and used by our bodies to keep us healthy."  Actually avocado provides a healthy fat, which is beneficial to our body and reduces the risks of developing heart diseases in the future.

In other words, this healthy fruit is highly recommended 
for most people, as it is high in fiber and has essential nutrients such as alpha and beta-carotene, lutein, vitamin C, E, K, B6, and folic acid that keep us fit. And of course, this should be followed by adequate sleep, proper diet and regular exercise.

  • Dragon fruit seeds contain phytoalbumin.
