By Alon Calinao Dy: TV show host and actor Arnell Arevalo Ignacio has spoken about the intervention of the Catholic Church particularly the president of CBCP, bishop Villegas, when it comes to the management of incoming president Rodrigo Duterte.
The comedian said that Duterte wanted to clean the government from crime, corruption and illegal drugs, but the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) seemed to intervene that there might be human rights violations.
Ignacio critized the Church for being selective, questioning those corrupt people who donated large amounts of money in the offerings but the institution suddenly became blind and deaf about what they offered.
Netizens said that the problems of the country boil down to one thing-- the control of power by the CBCP over the PH government.
Arnell Ignacio knew the bad history of the Catholic Church and now it seems the history repeats itself. All these country's problems such as crime, corruption and illegal drugs are not the works of God but the people themselves.
Ignacio reminded the Catholic faithful that the problems of the country are those who tolerate these evil acts. Incoming president Duterte has a sworn duty to protect the best interest of a majority of Filipinos and what he thinks the country needs right now.
Having appropriate solutions to these country's problems is what the Duterte Administration is going to make and not violent reactions coming from the CBCP that do not help to solve the underlying causes of these difficult situations Filipinos are now facing.
