By Alon Calinao Dy: After President Rodrigo Duterte determined the massive production and selling of illegal drugs at New Bilibid Prison (NBP), elite police Special Action Force (SAF) personnel took over the miximum security compound.
Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II believes that it's now time to clean up the mess of the past administration.
Aguirre thinks that corrupt NBP police guards should be replaced by SAF personnel to ensure the stop of illegal drug trade and some irregularities at the maximum security prison.
PNP Chief General Ronald de la Rosa assured the Filipinos that they are serious to end the country's problems of criminality, corruption and illegal drugs in the Philippines.
De la Rosa also talked drug lord Herbert Colangco, who is also linked to 5 generals and Sen. Leila de Lima by the netizens, to stop conducting their operations. Speechless Colangco immediately denied about the illegal drug trade inside the NBP.
For now, SAF commandos will guard the maximum security prison while jail guards, who will be assigned at NBP, will undergo months of training to get rid of bribery and stop corruption inside the prison.
